Example: opening 5,000. Credits 3,200. Debits 2,100. Expected close 6,100. Statement shows 6,100. Reconciled.
How to calculate it: list opening, add each credit, subtract each debit, keep a running total, compare to printed close.
Simple statement format: book balance, bank balance, then reconciling items. Outstanding cheques, uncleared deposits, fees, interest. Both sides meet.
